The National Motor Freight Traffic Association (NMFTA) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and is dedicated to advancing the interests of its members. It consists of 950 freight carriers. The two primary purposes of the NMFTA are to provide the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC), a standard that provides a comparison of commodities being transported, and to register Standard Carrier Alpha Codes.
